The Flashcards block allows learners to review key terms, concepts, or questions by flipping digital cards to reveal answers or explanations, supporting active recall and self-paced study. The activity can also be graded, with points awarded once a flashcard button is selected.
- Navigate to the page and select Edit this Page. Find the position you want to add a block and select the plus (+) icon.

- From the dropdown, select Add Block.

- In the Add Block modal, either:
- Use the Search field to find a block by keyword
- Select a block from your custom list of Favorites
- Scroll through the list of All Blocks to select one
Use the various Categories to filter by block type
Select a star icon to add or remove blocks in your Favorites list

Select the Flashcards block. The Add Flashcards form will open. The form has two areas: Flashcard Settings and Manage Flashcards.

Complete the Flashcard Settings with the following information:
- Points: The points field will only be displayed if the module is being graded. The default point value is 5 — change it if needed.
- Display Type:
- Flashcards displayed all at once: All flashcards appear on the screen simultaneously, and learners can flip through them in any order. Character limits: 40 (front) and 450 (back).
- Flashcards displayed one at a time in a slideshow format: Flashcards are shown one at a time in sequence, guiding learners through each card individually. Character limits: 150 (front) and 450 (back).

- In Manage Flashcards, add items using Add Flashcard+. A minimum of two items is required. There are four types of items that can be added to Flashcards: Text, Glossary Terms, Audio, and Equations (if the Equation Editor is enabled). See the links below to learn how to add the following:
