How do I embed a zip file?

Modified on Mon, 27 Jul at 2:25 PM

The Zip Embed block allows content creators to upload legacy content—such as SCORM packages, HTML5 content, or other exported web content—to a course page in a .zip file. Once uploaded, the content is embedded directly on the page for learners to view and interact with.

  1. Navigate to the page and select Edit this Page. Find the position you want to add a block and select the plus (+) icon.

  2. From the dropdown, select Add Block.Screenshot of the three options to add blocks to the CourseArc content page
  3. In the Add Block modal, you can either:
    • Use the Search field to find a block by keyword
    • Select a block from your custom list of Favorites
    • Scroll through the list of All Blocks to select one
    • Use the various categories in the side panel to filter by block type
    • Select the star icon to add or remove blocks in your Favorites listScreenshot of Add Block modal, displaying custom blocks including zip

  4. Select the Zip Embed block. The Add Zip Embed form will open. Complete the following steps:
    • Zip File: Select Choose File to browse for and upload the .zip file.
    • Choose Display File: Once the ZIP file is uploaded, select the display file from the dropdown (e.g., index.html). Once a file is selected, a preview of the launch page will appear at the bottom of the form.
    • Dimensions: Adjust the width and height as needed.
    • Is this content responsive: Select Yes if the content is responsive, and it will automatically resize to fit mobile screens. Only select this option if you are certain the uploaded content is responsive.

  5. Select the Add Block+ to save the block to the page.

  6. The new block will appear on the page in Edit Mode with a red, dotted outline indicating it's editable.

Note: Some legacy content may not be accessible. It is recommended that legacy content be reviewed by an accessibility expert to confirm compliance with current accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.2).
