Available to all CourseArc clients, conditional release is an optional feature of the Quiz block. To enable this setting in a CourseArc installation, a System Administrator should submit a support ticket or contact their CourseArc Client Representative.

If not implemented properly, conditional release can be frustrating for learners. We recommend discussing conditional release with your System Administrators and instructional designers prior to enabling this option to ensure that it is tested thoroughly prior to implementation in coursework.

Conditional release uses a single Quiz block to withhold access to any following pages within a module. Each course module is limited to one Quiz block with conditional release enabled.

When the conditional release setting is enabled in a Quiz block, learners must complete the quiz with a designated passing score to gain access to the remaining pages of the module.

1. From the edit page view, click Add to Content then click Add Block.
   
   
   
2. From the Add Block modal, select Quiz.
   
   
3. Configure the Quiz Settings as needed, making sure to enable Conditional Release?: and assigning a value to the Passing Score(%): field. Allow Retries?: should be set to Yes unless each learner is only allowed a single attempt.
   Note: A learner's conditional release score is calculated by dividing the number of quiz question points earned by the total number of quiz question points possible.
   
   
4. Set up the conditional release quiz questions and select the Add+ button to add the block to the page.

Published viewNote: The conditional release functionality is not active in published or preview views. Conditional release is activated when content is accessed via an LMS.

Until a learner's conditional release quiz score equals or exceeds the passing grade required, page content that follows the conditional release quiz page will not be available (it will be grayed out in the Navigation panel).
