The YouTube block allows content creators to embed YouTube videos directly into their course content. Learners can watch videos without leaving the platform, keeping them focused and engaged within the learning environment.
- Go to the YouTube video that needs to be added to a page. Copy the URL from the share link.

- Navigate to the page and select Edit this Page. Find the position you want to add a block and select the plus (+) icon.

- From the dropdown, select Add Block.

- In the Add Block modal, either:
- Use the Search field to find a block by keyword
- Select a block from your custom list of Favorites
- Scroll through the list of All Blocks to select one
Use the various Categories to filter by block type
Select a star icon to add or remove blocks in your Favorites list

- Select the YouTube block. The Add YouTube form will open.

- Complete the following fields:
- Title: Enter a clear, descriptive title. Block titles will appear in the Insert Block dropdown when adding the video to tabs, accordions, or quiz blocks, and may also display in student-facing areas of the course, such as activity names in the Table of Contents.
- YouTube URL: Paste the URL copied in Step 1.
- Width: The width will be populated with the recommended settings; adjust as needed.
- Height: The height will be populated with the recommended settings; adjust as needed.
- Transcript: Enter the transcript. Transcripts provide a text version of multimedia content, including key spoken, audio, and visual details, making it accessible to users who cannot see or hear the media and compatible with assistive technologies like refreshable Braille devices. They also make content searchable and provide users—especially screen reader users—with a flexible, readable alternative to real-time audio or video.

- Once all the required sections have been saved, select the Add Block+ button to save the block to the page.
The new block will appear on the page in Edit Mode with a red, dotted outline indicating it's editable. Note that the video content is always disabled when in the edit page view.
- Select the Publish My Edits button to save the block to the course page and see the content as it will appear to learners.

To add a video from Vimeo, use the Vimeo Player block.
To add a generic video, use the Generic Video block.
