The Standout block allows a content creator to draw attention to important content. For example, the Standout block can feature a case study, prompt learner action, identify objectives, highlight required reading, or provide a useful tip.

  1. From the edit page view, click Add To Content and select Add Block.

  2. From the Add Block modal, select Standout.

  3. The Add Standout form displays.

  4. Complete the Add Standout form fields and click Add+.
    • Title: Enter a title for the Standout block. The title is displayed at the top of the Standout block.
    • Image: Click +Select an image to add an image from the File Manager.
    • Alt Text:* Describe the image by telling viewers as much as possible about the image using as few words as possible. The purpose of alternative text is to allow the content or purpose of the image to be available to someone with visual or cognitive disabilities. Alt text is only visible to those with screen readers. To learn more about alternative text visit http://webaim.org/techniques/alttext/.
    • Image Alignment: Select left, right, or center to position the image within the block.
    • Content: Use the WYSIWYG text editor to enter and format any required text.
    • Button text: If the Standout block should link to additional content, enter the text that should be on the button.
    • Button URL: If linking to additional content, enter the corresponding URL.

  5. The new Standout block will now appear on the page in the edit page view. Select the Publish My Edits button to save the block to the page.

  6. Once the changes are published, the Standout block displays as it will appear to learners.

If Standout block classes are configured in Design Options, the Design: dropdown will be available to apply a preconfigured design style to the Standout block.
