How do I sync student scores when CourseArc scores are different than what is in my gradebook?

When student scores in CourseArc do not match the LMS gradebook, instructors or students can initiate a grade passback to update student scores. A grade passback can be initiated for individual students or for all students in a course, from the Students' Progress & Performance view.

Note: When manual grade passback is enabled for a course, student scores are only sent to the LMS when a student or instructor initiates a grade passback.

When to use Recalculate and Sync Scores

Use this function when:

• A grade did not post, or posted incorrectly, to the LMS.
• Adjustments have been made to activity point values or page point values (e.g., a change from participation to cumulative grading, or changes to point values for individual activities).

Note: Activities, such as quizzes, are not regraded by the Recalculate and Sync Scores process.

Instructor View (LMS)

1. From any page in the course that needs a grade or grades updated, select the Students' Progress & Performance dropdown menu in the upper-left corner of the instructor course view and then select This Module.
   
   
2. To update a single student's score, select Sync Score for that individual.
   
   
3. To update all student scores, select ⟳ Recalculate & Sync Scores.
   
   
4. Once the process completes, the Students' Progress & Performance dashboard updates with the current progress and scores for each student enrolled in the course.

Note: Under normal circumstances, student progress and scores update automatically. Instructor or student intervention to recalculate and sync scores should not be necessary on a regular basis. If it is happening regularly, submit a ticket.

Example: Adjusted Page Point Values

A common scenario that requires the recalculate and sync scores function is when an instructor adjusts page point values or activity point values after some students have already completed an activity.

In this example, the instructor assigned five points to each course page after students had already started work in the course. 

Although the students' progress doesn't change, all students' scores increase, since the instructor updated the course to award points for each completed page. Recalculate & Sync Scores applies these completed-page points to each student's score.
