A cache (pronounced CASH) is a place to store something temporarily in a computing environment.
The first time you visit a website, the browser will cache or save information on the page. This is because a browser can load a page much faster from its cached files than pulling the files from another server.
However, websites are regularly updated with new content and security patches, and if your browser pulls up the cached version, you won't see the most recent changes. Therefore, it is important that you clear your cached files from time to time. Also, if you have made a change to CourseArc content or a theme and are not seeing the updated version, most likely your cached files need to be cleared.
All browsers use caching, and typically using the Refresh button clears the cache and loads the new content. However, on Google Chrome you need to force the cache to be emptied.
In Windows, follow these steps to clear Chrome browser cache
- At the top right of the Chrome browser, click More.
- Click More tools.
- Click Clear browsing data.
- At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time and then next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files," check the boxes as shown below.
- Click Clear data.
