What blocks and other features support audio?

This article explains where audio can be used throughout your CourseArc course, including standalone Audio blocks, embedded audio in other blocks, glossary terms, and video-based blocks.

Audio Blocks

The Audio, Flashcards, Image Hotspots, and Interactive Matching blocks all support audio directly.

An Audio block can also be added anywhere on a course page to complement other content. For example, you might pair a Content block with an Audio block to present a historical speech alongside contextual text—such as a 1920 speech by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

Embedding Audio Blocks in Other Blocks

The Quiz and Tabs/Accordion blocks all support embedding other blocks, including Audio blocks. This means you can add an Audio block to:

• A Quiz question prompt
• A Tabs/Accordion block section

For example, you could embed a separate Audio block in each section of a Tabs block to provide audio content organized by topic.

Glossary Audio

Global and course glossaries support audio as well. When you use the Add Term from Glossary option in a content block, it creates a link to the glossary term. If that glossary term has been configured with audio, users can access the audio directly from the link.

Video Blocks

All video-based blocks (Generic Video, Vimeo, and YouTube Video) support audio as part of the video itself, as well as audio transcripts.
