  1. From the edit page view, click Add To Content and then Add Block.

  2. From the Add Block modal, select Generic Video.


  3. The Add Generic Video form will appear. To embed a video, complete the following steps and then click Add+.
    • Video Title: Enter the name of the video. 
    • Type of Embed: Enable I have embed code
    • Embed Code: Paste in the embed code.
    • Transcript: Type or paste in the transcript for the video to ensure the video is accessible to all learners.

  4. The new block will now appear on the page in the edit page view. Note that video content is always disabled in the edit page view. Select the Publish My Edits button to save the changes.

  5. Once the changes are published and the edit page view is exited, the video will display as it will appear to learners.

Video content should be embedded whenever possible. Embedding the video enables context to be built around the content so that learners have a clear and seamless experience. However, there may be times when an embed code is not available and linking to the video is the only option. In these cases, use the I am linking to a video option for the Type of Embed: setting as described below.


  1. Go to the source website and copy the URL for the video from the browser address bar.

  2. From the Add Generic Video form, complete the following steps and then click Add+
    • Video Title: Enter a title for the video. 
    • Type of Embed: Select I am linking to a video.
    • Screenshot Image: Click +Select an image file to launch the File Manager. Select an image to serve as the title screen for the video. If no image is added, the Video Title: text will be displayed as the video's title screen.
    • Video URL: Paste the website address into the Video URL: field.
    • Transcript: Type or paste in the transcript for the video so that the video is accessible to all learners.

  3. The Generic Video block will now appear on the page in the edit page view. Select the Publish My Edits button to save the Generic Video block to the page.

  4. Once the changes are published and the edit page view is exited, the video will display as it will appear to learners.
