There are two types of text answer quiz questions—text answer (checked) and text answer (unchecked). Text answer (checked) questions can be assigned a point value and are evaluated against an answer key. Text answer (unchecked) questions cannot be assigned a point value and are not evaluated against an answer key.
Add a Quiz block and configure the Quiz Settings section. For additional details on configuring the Quiz Settings section, refer to How do I create a quiz?.
Text Answer (Checked)
To create a question with a text answer that is checked, complete the following steps.
- Select the Text Answer (Checked) question type.
- Enter a point value in the Point Value: field. This option will not appear if the course setting Tracking and Grading: is set to No Tracking or Grading; or the Quiz block's Quiz Settings Graded?: field is set to No.
- Enter the question in the Question: field .
- Enter the correct answer in the Answer: field.
- Each question includes the option to provide a hint. Read more about the Hint: field in How do I create a quiz?.
- If Feedback: is set to Yes in Quiz Settings, each question will have an optional Feedback: field. Read more about the Feedback: field in How do I create a quiz?.
Select the Save Question button when the question configuration is complete.
Select Add+ to add the Quiz block to the page.
Text Answer (Unchecked)
To create a question with a text answer that is not checked, complete the following steps.
- Select the Text Answer (Unchecked) question type.
- Enter the question in the Question: field.
- Choose the size needed for the Text Area Size: field.
- Each question includes the option to provide a hint. Read more about the Hint: field in How do I create a quiz?.
- If Feedback: is set to Yes in Quiz Settings, each question will have an optional Feedback: field. Read more about the Feedback: field in How do I create a quiz?.
Select the Save Question button when the question configuration is complete.
- Once the Quiz block configuration is complete, select the Add+ button to add the Quiz block to the page.
- The new Quiz block will now appear on the page in edit view. Select the Publish My Edits button to save the block to the page.
- Once the changes are published, the Text Answer (Unchecked) question displays as it will appear to learners.
